Scandinavian Kitchen – Mats Oljons
Oljons Media
www.oljons.se – Sweden
3DS Max, VRay, Photoshop
This is a modern Scandinavian kitchen, using strict lines and simple materials. I did this project as a test to evaluate different techniques and see how close to a photo I could get. Nothing is perfect in the real world and I worked a lot on messing things up, adding noise, moving around objects so that they don´t line up perfectly etc. I also worked quite a bit on detailing, like on the sofa in the foreground. Subtle things that you don´t really see but that add realism. The floor is made of separate pieces, each mapped individually. Further a bit of colorcorrection was needed to desaturate areas that looked too computergenerated. It took me about two weeks to model, map and render this scene. Rendertimes around four hours on a single machine.

3D Studio Max + Mental Ray + Photoshop
This tunnel exists in Melbourne and inspired me to model it. It was a simple modeling exercise which allowed me to play around with the lighting more. I wanted to get that same feel as when you drive through a tunnel full of cars, smog and dark moody lighting.

GIRAFFE - ZEROFRACTAL STUDIO INC
www.zerofractal.com - Toronto, Ontario
Photoshop, 3ds Max, V-Ray, After Effects, Final Cut.
We knew right from the beginning that the creative to this video had to be as exciting and energetic as its contemporary architecture. From the very first moment we decided to use the project’s identity we had established initially as the main transitional element. We used an onerical journey of a Giraffe from Ontario Lake to the project’s site as an excuse to portray the proximity of the project to key areas of its surroundings. The entire preproduction phase was as always critical to finish on time and on budget. Well.. I think we can also give some credit to the guys from BOXX and the new renderfarm we set up.
