3ds Max, V-Ray, Photoshop

This image is a part of a visualization project for a commercial and residential complex in St. Peterburg, Russia. I took me about 6 hours to render this image in high resolution on quad core processor. The most challenging thing was creating the atmosphere that is a mixture of a cold daylight and the warm ligts in interior space.

My first thought was “this is an inviting, comfortable space and I’d lounge on the sofa’s while waiting for my family”. It’s not just because of the architecture, but also because of the lighting and mood of the image. well done.

    Really good, photo-realistic.

Nice Image. My only critique is the speed skater better have some insurance because he’s going to need it. Or some darn good brakes.

    Nice picture,
about the sofa, that just a minor detail, doesn’t change the main feeling of the picture == great

    Nice atmosphere.
But, try a better tiling for the sofa that it’s quite close to the viewer and it becomes “important”.

    Holy molly,
need to learn vray and 3dmax… does it really render that quick.. really nice lighting. im learning rendering with Kerkythea and su, and want to learn blender. Really love kerkythea cause its free and real easy to work with, but the lighting within kerkythe i dont like.

    Excellent interior.

CRITIC FOR ADMINISTRATORS OF VISMASTERS IMAGE OF THE WEEK:
There is no water mark on the image,
If i save this image as an inspirational and reference image in my computer, i would never figure out where is it from and who did it.
I strongly recommend to keep the watermark, name of artist and the website on the image.

Just a thought, and something I do on a regular basis. Save the artist’s name as part of the jpg when doing your save as. I’ve always found it helpful when saving images all over the web. for what it’s worth… :)

hey this is a great image, I’m just worried about that speed skater having a bit of a surprise when he realizes he’s gotta stop in about 5 ft. :)

best of luck to him, and congrats on IOTW.

I’d also say that my one crit would be that these types of images really sell when there are just an excessive amount of people, like you might see during the holidays. I realize it takes tons of work to get people just right but I would get that place as crowded as possible.

After reading your synopsis too, I think you’ve quite successfully created some very soothing and complimentary colors that makes the image feel very nice.
